Healing Hills' systematic scaling process
Key points of specialized scaling unique to
Healing Hills Veterinary Dental Clinic

Healing Point 01
Delicate air polishing procedure
Air polishing is capable of removing tartar that cannot be eliminated through regular scaling, as well as scaling weakened teeth that may be at risk of damage with conventional scaling alone. With air polishing, it effectively removes biofilm from tiny areas that regular scalers may not reach as well as from the gingival sulcus.

Healing Point 02
Utilzing dental suction tips
Applying the same dental system as in human dentistry, every particle of water, blood, or debris produced during scaling is thoroughly suctioned away to prevent them from passing into the throat and airway.
-
Healing Point 03
Protecting the airway during oral procedures.
We carefully pack around the endotracheal tube (ET tube) to prevent water or small tartar fragments from entering the airway. Each packing is tailored to fit the size of the pet's airway.

Healing Point 04
Conducting oral examinations alongside scaling
During scaling, we also perform oral examinations, including dental X-rays, to identify and treat diseases inside the teeth that are not visible from the outside.
-
Healing Point 05
Detailed examination of tooth surfaces using a dental microscope
We use a dental microscope to examine the detailed surfaces of teeth, which are difficult to see with the naked eye. This allows us to identify issues such as cracks or fractures and provide appropriate treatment.

The importance of oral X-ray diagnosis during scaling!
“There’s more to teeth than meets the eye!”
Even teeth that appear healthy on the outside often reveal issues with the tooth roots, jawbone, or
nerves through oral X-ray imaging. It's crucial to thoroughly assess and diagnose these conditions as
the first step, alongside scaling. This process allows for accurate diagnosis and the development of an
appropriate treatment plan.
